About

Gracie Laboy is a Latina R&B, Latin Pop singer-songwriter from Washington, D.C. Her classical technique and honest lyrics in pop and soul influenced-music bring rich tones and breathtaking emotion to her “soulful pop” songs. Her broad musical influences range from Rosalía to Ariana Grande to Amy Winehouse. After getting two Bachelor’s degrees from Stanford University and a Master’s degree from Berklee College of Music, Gracie worked in arts administration and marketing, and in 2019 she moved to Los Angeles to pursue music full time.

Growing up around disco and Latin music influenced Gracie’s style. She started pursuing music at a young age singing in choirs and musicals, studying classical and musical theatre voice privately, and performing in venues around the world including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, the Vatican, and St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice. A powerhouse, versatile singer, Gracie is equally at home performing operatic, choral, musical theatre, soul/R&B, rock, and pop repertoire

While at Stanford, she studied classical voice with Wendy Hillhouse and sang with the Chamber Chorale, which included tours to Thailand and the United Kingdom. In 2013 at age 19, she received the Kathryn Harvey Award Recipient at the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, recognizing her as the top vocalist among singers in all genres ages 19-24. She was also a member of Everyday People, Stanford’s only hip-hop, soul, Motown, and R&B a cappella group, and she served as the ensemble’s musical director for one year. In her senior year, Gracie became a vocalist of the Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble, and the lead singer of Real People Music, an indie R&B student band.

At Berklee Gracie was introduced to production, and she began songwriting and performing at local venues and at Berklee showcases. She became more at home in the studio, singing on countless sessions of varying genres. Gracie’s debut EP, “Valencia,” which was released on October 25, 2019, was written and recorded mostly while at Berklee. While there, faculty chose Gracie’s first original song, “Alright,” to be recorded in a session produced by Patrice Rushen at the Ann Kreis Scoring Stage. In addition to “Valencia,” Gracie released an empowering and sensual bilingual track titled “Boricua” in November 2019, expressing her Puerto Rican pride. NPR Music’s Felix Contreras called it “a sultry, R&B tinged ode to her Puerto Rican roots with enough of a reggaeton sheen to make us appreciate the cross-cultural magic while we groove on the dance floor.”

Outside of music, Gracie has continued to nurture her passion for travel and fitness, having already completed two Olympic distance triathlons, five half marathons, and one full marathon. And in the fall of 2016 she completed the Camino de Santiago, an 800km trek from France to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, in northwest Spain. She’s traveled to over 20 countries in 5 continents and is not stopping anytime soon.
